Interview With George Groshkov, Our UX Design Intern From Bulgaria

During the last few months we have had an international intern in our midst. His name is George Groshkov and he hails from Bulgaria. Recently I sat down with him for a short chat about life, UX design, and the Estonian IT scene.

Could you tell us a bit about yourself?

My background is in video production and graphics media. I've been working in the advertising and social media departments of various companies. Further, I have worked on interface designs for several video platforms.

Currently I am studying Cross-Media at the Baltic Film and Media School in Tallinn. I'm a blend of Bulgarian and Russian love. Lived in Sofia, London and now Tallinn. Passionate for startups, yoga and legos.

How did you end up in Estonia?

My previous projects in Bulgaria were IT oriented. At some point, I wanted to travel to a country where IT is booming. I then had an opportunity to continue my education in Estonia and the puzzle clicked.

Estonia is very calm Northern country. It has good IT and design, plus some highly successful and interesting startups. I took the plunge, and so far it has been one of the best decisions I've ever made. Most importantly, I've met great passionate people to work it.

What brought you to UX design, why do you like this field?

It was there during my time working on content distribution over different media. I was thinking about user engagement and how businesses can benefit from good user experience.

I like it because it digs deep into the needs of both users and clients. It tackles psychology, anthropology and physical perceptions.  It's a field where beauty meats hard-core math.

In some sense, it's a philosophy in which elegance helps organisations achieve better results.

How do you like working in Trinidad?

It's awesome! It's a pleasure to work with professionals on bold projects that really bring value. The projects are very interesting since they range from public to private sector, from softer to very massive ones.  I enjoy the positive and friendly atmosphere very much.

The team is great to work with and when things are getting tuff, Trinidad's unique black humour saves the day. I always come to work smiling, even when the weather is bad, which is pretty much most of the time. :)
